10x14 and oversized rugs
Oversized rugs cover great rooms, open-plan living spaces and long dining tables with room to spare. A 10′ × 14′ holds a sectional and chairs, or a dining table for eight to ten with the chairs pulled out. This page also includes 9′6″ × 13′, 9′9″ × 13′9″ and 10′ × 13′ cuts, plus 12′ × 15′ and larger rugs. Measure carefully: a 10′ × 14′ needs a room of about 13′ × 17′ to leave a border of bare floor, and large rugs are heavy, so plan on two people to place one.

Open size guideChoosing an area rug
Start with size: in a living room, leave 12–18 inches of bare floor around the rug and tuck at least the front legs of your sofa onto it. Then narrow by color and style, and add a rug pad to keep it in place.
